This week according to The Sun, Chelsea’s Chief Executive Ron Gourlay faces some tough questioning from Didier Drogba’s agent.
First up has to be is Carlo Ancelotti going to be the manager next season? The Ivorian has clearly been unsettled by the arrival of the Spaniard and if Carlo walks or gets the push then surely Drog’s chances of regular first team football will take a dent.
Drogba’s real problem is largely one of perception. The Blues have had a messy season. The absence of Frank Lampard has undoubtedly caused problems in several departments, let alone his own goal tally contribution. Strikers need supply and Didier has not had the service he’s enjoyed in seasons past.in
But he’s getting old. Every day he’s another day older. He’ll be 52 in June. Rubbish of course, but it’s all we seem to hear. He doesn’t look past it. He looks if anything like the arrival of Torres has given him a positive little nudge.
My suspicion is that Chelsea are hoping Didier make a move for the door marked ‘Exit’ before things get too fraught in-house. Will Chelsea still continue to pay out £120,000 a week to a player they don’t see a future with?
Turkish giants Fenerbahce are looming. And genuinely so. They would snap Drog up and meet his wage demands without skipping a beat. And that’s about the only side who’d come in that strong. All well and good people mumbling about Tottenham but Tottenham won’t pay top top wages. They simply will not do it.
Torres has finally scored and I’m sure Mr Abramovich will undoubtedly be telling everyone he meets that the corner is turned. Perhaps with a strong preseason Torres will emerge as the player he once was at Liverpool.Who knows? What is certain is the uncomfortable mood at Stamford Bridge until the situation is resolved.
My take is that more and more ‘future options’ for Didier will emerge and be used as leverage in negotiations. Expect a short contract agreement to keep him on their books. But don’t expect the mood in the Chelsea camp to be any more relaxed as a result – whoever the manager is.
Drogba has been there for us and i think he has tried,but this time let him be sold so that torres and sturidge will form a great striking partnership.there are younger players who are eager to deliver but the chance was not given to them so let him be sold so.
