The future of Romelu Lukaku is looking more clear by the day, his future at Anderlecht will come to an end this Summer and one of the longest running transfer sagas is winding down, is that a cheer I hear in the corner of the bar?

Our friends at TalkSPORT have brought us quotes from a well respected agent in Belgium regarding the players future and where it lies, maybe it isn’t quite as clear as I make out but the country he will most likely play in has now been more or less confirmed as England.

Lukaku who was born and raised in Belgium joined the Anderlecht youth academy in 2006 when he was just 13, and it wasn’t long before he broke through into the first team. He made his debut during the 09-10 season and he very quickly made a name for himself, in his first season he notched up 15 goals in 33 games. His performances this time around have been just as impressive scoring 13 goals in 29 games so far.

The striker has a pretty terrifying skillset, he is tall, powerful, quick and a fantastic finisher, and at only 17 he can still improve massively and whoever does sign has some player on their hands. It seems at this point there hasn’t been a club in Europe that he hasn’t been linked with such is his talent, they include Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter Milan, Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea as well as many more.

It would now appear a near certainty however that it will be the Premier League where the forward will ply his trade next season, famed agent Fabrizio Ferrari has told Italian newspaper Tuttosport the following:

“Juventus are interested in Lukaku but Anderlecht say they will sell him in the summer to a club in the Premier League, at his request, because he believes his characteristics are most suited to the Premier League….He is a wonder, with his speed and technique; he reminds of the when I first saw the Brazilian striker Adriano at Inter Milan.”

Well there we have it, let the Premier League bun fight commence. Previously the player has made it clear that his preference would be to play at Chelsea with his idol Didier Drogba, however with the Ivorians future at Stamford Bridge far from certain the race could open up to numerous other teams. It was reported in January that Manchester City had already spoken to the player about a potential move, but ultimately those claims were refuted by both parties.

If I had to pick I would still think Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea would be the most likely destination, but the race for his signature could be complex. Either way, if the comparisons to Adriano stand true he will definitely be a fine player, well that is if he can remain sane and not turn into some sort of overweight drinking machine!
