Everton ace Marouane Fellaini’s father and agent has claimed that Chelsea are interested in bringing the midfielder to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

Blues gaffer David Moyes wants to extend the Belgian’s contract, which runs out in 2013, in order to prevent bigger clubs from tempting his star away from Goodison Park.

Abdellatif Fellaini told reporters:

“The big clubs can see what a good job Marouane is doing and that is why Chelsea are following him intensively… In his position he’d get into the starting XI at any big club.”

With Steven Pienaar leaving to Tottenham in January, Moyes would be reluctant for another of his squad to leave and will do everything possible to keep the player at Everton.

Moyes said:

“I think talks with Fellaini will start shortly because we don’t want to encourage clubs. We don’t want the speculation to start, so hopefully we will get him sorted.”

The 23-year-old has become a key player for Everton since he joined from Standard Liege in 2008 for a club-record fee.
