Every time a top Premiership side is rumoured to be in the hunt for a striker, a name which invariably crops up is Porto’s Hulk.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been linked with the Brazilian, and why not? He’s hit 13 goals in 13 league games this season, and compared to the likes of Edin Dzeko is practically a steal at just £15m.

Well, according to reports published by TuttoMercato, Arsene Wenger has indeed kept a close eye on Porto this season; but he’s not after Hulk. The Arsenal boss is instead rumoured to be willing to offer up to £25m for another striker on Porto’s books – Radamel Falcao.

Now, the Colombian may be a lot more expensive than his striker-partner, but his goal tally to date since signing for Porto from River Plate in 2009 makes his price tag seem somewhat of a bargain: he scored 25 goals in 28 league games in his debut season last year, and has carried on where he left off in this campaign, netting 7 in 12 so far.

Porto have already lined up Falcao’s replacement, and will raid River Plate again for 19-year-old Rogelio Funes Mori. This has encouraged the Gunners in their pursuit, however they’ll need to move fast, as Porto’s apparent willingness to do business has also alerted Chelsea, with Carlo Ancelotti prepared to out-bid his London rivals, to the tune of £35m.

If he continues his goal-scoring record in the Premier League, that’s still a snip!
