Sampdoria are reportedly interested in signing Patrick van Aanholt on loan for the remainder of the season, could a spell in Serie A prove to be the making of the Dutch youngster?

The 20-year-old left back has only made half a dozen first team appearances this season, but has impressed me every time he plays and I believe he should be making more starts for the club, especially to rest Ashley Cole, who looks knackered most of the time these days.

Van Aanholt would probably be up for a loan move away in order to get some more playing time. Sampdoria are not the only side to have an eye on the Dutchman as Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers, who says van Aanholt is an ‘Ashley Cole in the making’ is also interested in the player.

But, and it’s a big but, the question marks over a lack of depth raises its ugly head again and the squad is arguably too shallow to let him go.

I definitely think a loan move at a decent side either in the Prem or abroad will help the likes of PVA and Bruma, but the squad is so damn thin.

Also, how good would a loan move be for someone like McEachran, like it was for Wilshere when he went to Bolton.

Bertrand is spending the rest of the season with us, PVA can then go out on loan to get some experience as we have a youngster there.
