Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic will be absent for the Aston Villa game on Sunday after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Bolton last night.

Will Jeffrey Bruma finally get his chance, or will Carlo Ancelotti put square pegs in round holes again and go with Paulo Ferreira?

Villa have been in terrible form of late, only picking up four points out of the last 21 available, and could be there for the taking. Chelsea’s own form has been abysmal and problems remain despite the victory against Owen Coyle’s Bolton side, but it was an overdue win and could be the first step towards recovery.

Ancelotti has previously tried everything but starting Bruma at centre back since the defensive injury problems hit us in November. So far, we have seen Ferreira looking expectedly uncomfortable in the centre half spot against Sunderland at home and Alex’s surgery was delayed so he could play against Birmingham and Newcastle, even though he had loose bits and pieces rattling around in his knee at the time.

What will Carlo do now? Play Ferreira out of position again, or even move Michael Essien into a defensive spot?

Bruma is one of the more promising young talents we have at Chelsea, has already played for his country and was superb in last season’s FA Youth Cup win last season. Now is the time to give him his chance and who better to pair him up with and learn alongside than  our very own captain fantastic John Terry?

… IF Bruma does not play against Villa then there is really no point in him being kept around and may as well go out on loan.

Do you think Jeffrey Bruma deserves his chance to shine?

Bruma has to start, it’s a no brainer…

I’d rather play Jeffrey over Paulo period! We have a centre back on the bench then play him. Bruma and Mancienne are the future of CFC

As much as I know, most Chelsea fans would like to see Bruma in the CB position rather than Ferreira, but knowing Carlo’s tactics that’s unlikely to happen.
