Three Striking Options That Could Tempt Chelsea

Chelsea wowed many fans during the early part of the season after brushing aside opponent after opponent, with goal after goal.

But unfortunately for us the goals dried up, key players suffered injuries/suspensions and many critics argued that we lack the depth to sustain what we had started. Here are three striking options that could tempt the Blues in either the January or summer transfer windows and help us get back amongst the goals.

1. Luis Suarez – the Ajax star is my preferred choice out of the forwards we have been linked with over the past few months as I believe he could be the perfect foil for Didier Drogba, whilst he’s still around, and is good enough to eventually lead the attacking line himself.

One thing that does concern fans is that the 23-year-old is currently impressing in the Dutch Eredivisie, which is often deemed as an inferior league. However, his phenomenal career record of 139 goals in 222 games is nothing to balk at. He has also scored goals at the highest level in both the UEFA Champions League (5 goals in 8 games this season) and for Uruguay at the FIFA 2010 World Cup in South Africa (3 goals in 6 games).

2. Fernando Llorente – could be an interesting option for the Blues, if they wanted to go for someone who is shining in one of the world’s top leagues. The Athletic Bilbao man currently has 10 La Liga goals to his name and is 3rd scorer in the league behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, both tied on 17.

Llorente, 25, stands at 6 ft 5 in and one of his greatest assets is unsurprisingly his aerial ability and physique, so adjusting to the pace and physical nature of the Premier League may not be a problem for him as a traditional centre forward.

The Spaniard has earned 13 caps for his country and has scored seven goals.

3. Carlos Tevez – the only proven Premier League goal-scorer on the list and is currently unsettled, for various reasons, at Manchester City.

It is believed that Tevez wants out of Eastlands to return home to his family in Argentina, but others have suggested that the forward is allegedly unhappy that he is not the highest earner at the club. It is doubtful that the Argentine could return to a club back in his homeland for the fee that the Citizens will be asking for, which leads many to believe that he may opt for a move to Spain.

But if he is to stay in England, it is Chelsea who would represent the best move for the player. Tevez seems to have a good scoring record against the Blues after netting four times in three games since his arrival at City.

Tevez has been in fine form this season with 10 Premier League goals to his name and four assists, but there will always be question marks over his attitude.

Are you a fan of one of the aforementioned players? Or, would you prefer to see the club go for an alternative option such as Alexandre Pato, Neymar, Edin Dzeko or Andy Carroll?
