Oscar’s role has diminished under Antonio Conte this season – and that looks unlikely to change going forward.

Chelsea look entrenched into the 3-4-3 formation, and that is a system that does not need a number 10 – and as a result, Oscar has no role to play in the modern day Chelsea side.

It is disappointing, as Oscar is undoubtedly a decent player – but he just doesn’t fit.

Unlike Fabregas, he has not proven his quality in the new system, and that is why, unlike Fabregas, he will likely be departing Stamford Bridge sooner, rather than later.
