Chelsea are reportedly lining up a shock move for Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert in the summer.

The 33-year-old has struggled in his first season at Anfield, netting just two Premier League goals in 22 appearances for his boyhood club.

However, Lambert impressed in the 2-1 win over QPR on Saturday, and Chelsea, who are not expected to give Didier Drogba a contract extension, are keen according to The Mirror.

Third-choice Drogba, 37, has played behind Diego Costa and Loic Remy for much of the season, while Emmauel Adebayor is also said to be on the shortlist of replacements.

On Tuesday, Chelsea captain John Terry urged the club to award the Ivorian with a new contract.

The Shed Ender believes that this story epitomises why the summer transfer window is often referred to as ‘silly season’.

Does it sound to the media? What is he doing at Liverpool as a striker and they still at the 5th position? I even forget that CFC do go for a new player at 33 years.Drogba’s case is different.
Whether rain or shine,Cfc will never do that.Better Didier continues with Us
