Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has dealt Chelsea’s chances of signing Gareth Bale a blow by insisting that the “unique” Welshman is not for sale.
Bale has been linked with a £70 million move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks after falling foul of the Bernabeu faithful, with reports suggesting that the Blues would offer him a £300,000-a-week salary.
However, Perez has stated that the 25-year-old winger is effectively priceless and claims that he cannot imagine the club’s future without him.
“We would never listen to any offers for Bale no matter what the bid was,” he told Marca. “He is a unique player who has already given so much to the team.
“He is the key to the club’s future, just like I cannot imagine a future without Cristiano Ronaldo.”
