Chelsea striker Diego Costa has insisted that manager Jose Mourinho has no plans on selling out-of-favour Felipe Luis this summer.

Speculation is rife that the left-back could be set for a return to Atletico Madrid, whom he left for £16 million in July, after struggling to displace Cesar Azpilicueta this season.

It has been reported that Mourinho would use the 29-year-old as a makeweight in a player-plus-cash deal for highly-rated midfielder Koke.

However, Costa, who played alongside Luis at Atletico last term, says that the Portuguese coach has no intention of parting ways with the Brazilian just yet.

“Filipe is there, is not passing his prime as a player,” he told Marca.

“He is one of the best left-backs in the world. With the quality he has and capacity is very important despite not playing many minutes.

“We all know what he can bring. The coach does not think he will let him go. He will bring a lot.”
