kylescottChelsea teenager Kyle Scott is being targeted by a host of big European clubs, including Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

The 15-year-old central midfielder is yet to sign a professional contract at Stamford Bridge and the aforementioned will try to tempt him away, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

Whether or not he’ll be retained by the West London club in the long-term remains to be seen but assuming the interest is genuine, it’s yet another example of the good work being done by Chelsea at youth level.

Michael Emenalo has been heavily criticised for the majority of the time he’s been at Chelsea and much of it may have been harsh, and I have been guilty of this myself. When looking at it objectively then you could argue that Emenalo often becomes a scapegoat for the club’s mistakes and I believe there has been a huge improvement in the quality of players in the academy as well as the young signings we have made compared to Frank Arnesen’s time at Stamford Bridge (read ‘Michael Emenalo: Success or Failure?).

We won the FA Youth Cup in 2012, were runners-up in this year’s competitions against Norwich (4-2 agg) and also finalists in the European NextGen Series losing to Aston Villa after beating the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona to get there. The next step is for the club to help the young players make the transition into first team football.

As for Scott, I could really tell you much about him but if the big clubs are interested then there’s a good reason and hopefully we’ll get a good chance to see him play in the coming years.

Scott has been capped by England at under-16 level.
