Edinson-Cavani2Most reports in relation to Chelsea’s summer transfer activity suggest that the purchase of a forward is the club’s priority this summer and they’re willing to use Fernando Torres in order to land one of their top targets.

Sky Italia claim that the Blues will offer the Spanish forward plus €30 million for Napoli star Edinson Cavani, 26, who scored over 30 goals in all competitions in three consecutive seasons, including the 38 he netted during the 2012-13 campaign.

The links between Chelsea and the Uruguayan have been increasing over the past week following reports that the West London club made their interest in Cavani officially known for the first time to the Naples club. Tancredi Palmeri, Gazzetta dello Sport contributor, said via his Twitter account that it is Jose Mourinho that is keen to sign him for Chelsea.

We had been linked with Radamel Falcao for a prolonged period of time but he looks as though he will imminently arrive at cash-rich AS Monaco and Robert Lewandowski, a player Mourinho admires, has his heart set on a move to Champions League winners Bayern Munich. It seems as though we’re running out of options if we want to sign a top-class forward then Cavani could well be our best option, so we’ll need to act fast if we want him as Real Madrid and Manchester City are also interested.

As for a potential swap involving Torres, it seems a little too good to be true even if Rafael Benitez has made a personal plea for him. Cavani has a buyout clause of over €60 million, Torres isn’t worth anywhere near €30m judging by the form he has shown since 2011 and Napoli would also have to take on his huge wages, so I doubt they’d accept that and we’ll have to cough up it we want to see Cavani in Chelsea blue.

30 million is more for him roman 20 million plus toress is enough because toress values 25 – 30 million pounds so go for it roman if they agree but we got schurrle and hulk and rooney let toress play till january then you plan to sell him i prefer bayern manager than mourinioh because mourinioh waste money always and 40 million pounds is always hefty price for not in form manager so think to take bayern coach

Torres is nowhere near 25-30 million worth of player

Torres 25-30m lmao he’s not worth more than 15m so it would be 45m offer for Cavani which is fair

    give torres some time

131 games not enough time? This is a football club, not a charity.

He’s had plenty of time and hasn’t delivered. We aren’t talking about an up-and-coming player here, there will only be so many opportunities to get rid of him and I reckon it’s the best time.

Torres will be on the bench if he stays next season, does he want to be doing that in a world cup year? Doubt it.

25 plus Torres could be the best for Cavani.
