United reject Hernandez approach

According to recent reports, Chelsea have made an approach for Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez, which the Red Devils have rejected.

There was no official cash bid from the Stamford Bridge club but they thought it was worth asking about the Mexican’s availability as he will have dropped down the pecking order at Old Trafford following the arrival of Robin Van Persie from Arsenal, as reported by ESPN.

It was only a matter of time before someone linked Hernandez with a move away from Manchester United considering the competition he’s to face now, with van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck (who seems as though he’s part of the long-term plans at the club) in the squad.

This one is a non-starter, in my opinion, as United obviously would like to keep the player, the player doesn’t particularly want to leave and United, unlike Arsenal, won’t be forced into selling to a Premier League rival. Only a drastic overpayment would bring him to Chelsea, and there’s enough teams wanting to hold us to ransom without adding United to the list.

We do of course need another forward and although I dislike Hernandez, I cannot deny his talents, especially at goal-poaching and wouldn’t say no to signing him but I really don’t see this one happening.

We’re still being linked with the likes of Edinson Cavani and Hulk, I reckon we’ll definitely be signing a new striker soon and we’ll know who soon enough as deadline day draws nearer and nearer.
