Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has not seen much playing time since he signed for the club in the summer for around £18 million and has admitted that he may have to go out on loan to gain some more experience.

The former Anderlecht star has been tipped for a big future from a young age but has found it hard to make an impact at Stamford Bridge and has only made 10 appearances in Chelsea blue despite the lack of form of his rival centre forward Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres, and the fact Daniel Sturridge has been played in a wider role.

Lukaku told Voetbal International:

“It is said that the clubs are lining up to loan me and that is true.

“I even heard that Anderlecht want me back. The club that wants me most is my preference.

“I want to be number one for Belgium, but our other strikers are not standing still. Something has to change.”

But Lukaku insists that he has no problems with the manager and understands why it’s been hard to play him when the team has been suffering in terms of results.

He said:

“Do not get me wrong, I have no problem with Andre Villas-Boas. He is just under a lot of pressure.”

I’m sure Lukaku has a bright future ahead of him but our transfer policy still puzzles me. A lot of money has been spent on the likes of Lukaku and Kevin de Bruyne with the future in mind, but the present has been ignored a little in my opinion and these are often players that the manager did not want himself.

Next season Lukaku will inevitably be shipped out on loan, along with a few other young players we’ve invested in, with Fulham being a likely destination for the Belgian. The loan system if fine when it works, like it did with Daniel Sturridge, but will the likes of Josh McEachran, Gael Kakuta, Thibaut Courtois etc be given first team opportunities at Chelsea when they return in the summer? There has to be a point where they’re trusted.

What do you think the future holds for Romelu Lukaku?
