1. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t:

Many of Andre Villas-Boas’ predecessors have fallen victim to player power and many have been criticised for not standing up to the senior players at Chelsea, at the same time it’s also considered ‘managerial suicide’ by Jamie Redknapp to leave them out. What are you supposed to do with players that revolt against you, let them walk into their automatic places game after game?

2. The ‘old guard’ have had enough of the manager:

Villas-Boas has admitted he has had a disagreement with a number of his stars and it would seem that they’ve had enough. Some have even argued that said players are sabotaging the manager and the likes of Ashley Cole couldn’t make it any more obvious that they’re unhappy.

3. Chelsea wasted both the summer and winter windows:

It has been clear for some time that there needed to be major changes at Chelsea and I think we’re paying the price for not making more wholesale ones when we have had the chance. We’ve lacked decent wingers for years, have only one player that can truly be regarded as a creative force and several players that have outstayed their welcome.

4. Bad blood:

It would seem that the recent clear-the-air talks between owner, manager and squad have done anything close to what the title suggests. Neither Villas-Boas or Roman Abramovich should have given the players a forum in which to discuss things that do not concern them. The owner appoints the manager to give the team tactical direction and that is that, it’s not their place to suggest how the club or team is run.

5. Where will it end?

The board are facing a tricking position as the players do not seem to have faith and are unwilling to do what Villas-Boas expects of them. Many of the players will almost certainly be shown the door in the summer, but will the owner appease them one more time by firing Villas-Boas as it is extremely unlikely we’ll finish in the top four in our current state.
