He has been on the transfer list for a while but Brazilian defender Alex has completed a move away from Stamford Bridge and is delighted to reunite with ex-Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti at Paris Saint-Germain.
The 29-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the French club for a transfer fee in the region of €5m, according to the UEFA website.
“PSG were my first choice.
“I know the importance of the club and so really wanted to come here. I spent two years under Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea and I am delighted to join up with him again here in Paris.”
He added:
“I have won the title at every club I have played for and it’s the best feeling. I intend to do the same here but I also want to play in the Champions League with PSG.”

Alex had been out-of-favour at Stamford Bridge since the arrival of Andre Villas-Boas in the summer and has only featured in three Premier League games this season and his exit was always on the cards as he was placed on the transfer list during the winter. I’m not entirely sure what went on behind the scenes at Chelsea but I wish Alex all the best and think he’s left us with some good memories, with my favourite being his freekick against Liverpool in the Champions League.
The Blues have already replaced the centre-back after signing Gary Cahill from Bolton Wanderers earlier in the month.
