Spain winger Juan Mata could leave Valencia this summer for either Chelsea or Manchester United, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish publication Marca believes that Mata will the next star to leave the Mestalla after David Villa and David Silva did last summer, as the La Liga outfit attempt to balance their books.

It’s alleged that Chelsea and Manchester United are the front-runners for the player’s signature, especially the Blues as they are expected to build a team around Fernando Torres for next season despite the striker’s current failures in a blue shirt.

The winger is valued at around £27m, but the Stamford Bridge club may opt to use Salomon Kalou as a makeweight in any potential deal.

Chelsea have often been criticised for being too narrow and not having much threat in the wider areas of the pitch, could Mata be the perfect choice to help rectify this problem?

Don’t even get me started but Torres+Mata= loads of goals. I would absolutely love this move.

Would be a good signing, but will be disappointed with Kalou leaving.

Age is factor. How old is he?

With Nani, Giggs and Valencia to accomodate I can’t see United paying out £27m for another winger. They are obviously desperately in need of a new keeper for next term as well as some defenders to strengthen their squad. In recent seasons they haven’t spent that much so I really can’t see them entering any bidding war for Juan Mata. As for Chelsea’s interest, remember we are supposed to be interested in the Brazilian winger Willian from Shaktar. And to think we have got a whole summer of this kind of speculation. We’ll all be pulling our hair out by the end of August!

Willian and Mata would make for some pretty sweet wing play!

Manchester United desperately needs to find a replacement for Ryan Giggs who has already turned 37 .Despite the fact that he still has the flair and class, he no longer has the stamina to stand a whole match on the wide areas. SAF needs to start spending if ManUtd is to reach a higher level. I am a loyal ManUtd fan and will always be, but I no longer find Manchester United display entertaining.Mata would be a perfect fit for ManUtd.
