Chelsea suffered another disappointing result in the Premier League this week. Following the disastrous home defeat to Liverpool at Stamford Bridge, the Blues were unable to find a way past Fulham at Craven Cottage and had to rely on their goalkeeper Petr Cech to save a penalty from Clint Dempsey and earn a point. The draw leaves Chelsea lying 5th in the Premier League table, all but out of the title race and with a real battle on their hands to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League. It looked like Chelsea had turned the corner with a couple of good performances, but Carlo Ancelotti’s men have returned to their slump; so should the Italian be relieved of his duties at Stamford Bridge?

bet365 have just settled Chelsea’s points total for the season after the Blues drew 0-0 with Fulham on Monday night. bet365 spokesman said Steve Freeth:

“Chelsea are in danger of finishing the season with a whimper and that’s summed up by the fact we’ve already settled their Premier League points total for the season (under 82, 11/10) – in the middle of February.”

The firm are 1/3 about Carlo Ancelotti departing Stamford Bridge before the start of the 2011/12 campaign and Didier Drogba is 1/2 to pack his bags by the end of the summer Transfer Window.

So do you think it is time for Carlo Ancelotti’s tenure at Chelsea to come to an end? And with the arrival of Fernando Torres, will this prove to be Didier Drogba’s last season in the Premier League with the Blues?

anceloti should be sacked and watch out for chelsea

  2. Gman says:

Ancelotti should leave, we have had enough of him. I think its time for Mourinho to return to the Bridge.

  3. tony says:

please, please, please bring back former assistant coach. Fans in africa are having sleepless nights due to the club problem since the exit of the former assistant.

  4. graham says:

if chelsea has a better coach then i believe the pair of tores and drogba will work very well. Chelsea need a midfield playmaker.

  5. Graham says:

Chelsea need guus or jose because anceloti is not a tactician he does not know how to change game he is a confuse man

I always felt winning the double last season had more to do with the team than Ancelotti. The standard of play since losing Wilkins seems to confirm this. And Ancelotti’s comments about ‘being in a bad moment’ and ‘this is football’ do not help to solve the problem. I would not be surprised if Ancelotti is gone come the end of the season. I would also not be surprised if Mourinho returned. I don’t think he was at Craven Cottage to consider buying the aging Drogba!

So many problems where do you start. Cech is iffy; Terry is past it – for those of you who don’t believe this look at the goals conceded this year and have a look at his contribution. (He has spent his career alongside Marcel, Gallas, Ricardo and Rio. He is now being shown up.) The midfield has no creativity. The forwards don’t care enough. Torres was not the type of player we needed. If Roman left now we would be ******

I agree regarding Cech and Terry, but not with Torres.

The years have dragged on and it’s time for people to start being replaced. Losing Alex hit our defence hard as I think he’s our best centre half, so Terry should be challenged by Luiz’s arrival.

I’m pretty sure Drogba is off in the summer, so it’s great to buy Torres as we’re replacing him with a better player and will perhaps bring in another in summer…Lukaku?

Just need to replace Lampard, who is a Chelsea legend, but not the man he was and has never been a natural playmaker anyway.

  8. Luiz's hair stylist says:

As much as I love Jose and what he did for Chelsea, I’m unsure I’d want him back as we could kiss goodbye any hopes of Josh, Kakuta, PVA, Bruma and Sturridge breaking into the first team.

Also, the Wilkins thing is such a tired excuse. We lost a better assistant in Clarke and didn’t see a slump like this and also lost better tactical minds like Hiddink and Mourinho, so I don’t buy this Wilkins theory. If he was that good he’d be the manager.

Ancelotti hasn’t done anything of his own, just relying on Mourinho’s old blueprint, which makes him no better than Avram Grant.

This summer both Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola will be entering the last year of their respective contracts, right? Just sayin’

I think Saturday’s game is massive for Ancelotti. We lose and I would start to feel that it’s the end for him. Only chance of silverware would be the CL and that at the moment is looking very unlikely. Win tomorrow and a home tie against Reading awaits us and the quarter final is within easy reach. I’m sure it would be a big boost for the team. As is the news of Alex’s return very soon. Carlo did a fantastic job last season but this time round has come up well short of what is expected. Saying that I can’t see him being sacked while we are still in the CL. Get knocked out of that and he will be doomed.
