Chelsea’s Frank Lampard hopes the Blues can avoid a potential ‘disaster’ and finish in the Premier League’s top four this season, at the expense of either Manchester City or Tottenham.

The 32-year-old told BBC Sport:

“We must finish in the top four and can never take our eye off the ball – it would be a disaster if we didn’t qualify”

He continued:

“There’s huge importance [on the cups] because you can see the league’s going to be difficult.

“That means it’s more important to reach finals.”

The league and FA Cup champions have suffered a major fall in stock during the current campaign and have found themselves in 5th place, 12 points behind league leaders Manchester United.

Most fans have accepted now that regaining the league title is probably out of reach, but could things become much worse for Chelsea, could they finish outside the top four?

With Carlo in charge, we’ll be lucky to make 6th. He is either jinxed or does not care, either way he will be the end of this team.
