Chelsea started the season in as an emphatic fashion and many experts were effectively handing them the title back in September, but then November came around and the goals started to dry up.

Could it be time to bring a fresh face into the Chelsea attack?

Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda have most of the goal-scoring burden upon them, but they have all been suffering from a lack of form and have generally started to look jaded. The Blues have also missed the injured Frank Lampard, who had scored 20 or more goals in each of the last five campaigns.

It is rumoured that the club are interested in bring Ajax forward Luis Suarez to the club in January to help get the club back amongst the goals. Could he be the perfect man to get Chelsea back amongst the goals and also take some of the weight off Drogba’s shoulders?

I highly doubt that we will be bringing in a £25+ million rated striker as early as the winter, but I do think Suarez would be the perfect man to eventually replace Drogba. Our Ivorian forward is currently one of the best forwards in the world and can put the fear of god into many a defender (especially Arsenal ones).

But the former Marseille man is 32-years old now and even though he may have a lot left in the tank, it might be wise to start thinking about who will eventually step in for him. I also believe that Suarez could potentially be the perfect foil for Drogba whilst the Ivory Coast captain remains in the first team thinking.

Many fans are hoping that we will win the race to sign Romelu Lukaku, who has been touted as the ‘next Drogba’, and he’d be a great addition to any squad. But at 17-years old can he be expected to fill the shoes of a world class forward and pressured to score 20-30 goals a season?

Of course not, it would be a lot to ask of a youngster and that is why Suarez could be the perfect striker to bring to Chelsea. The Uruguayan was in fine form during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and has scored a mighty 81 goals in 108 games for Ajax.
